Whiplash: The Controversial injury

Posted on 2012-03-13 08:57:49

Whiplash is a common condition usually occurring when the neck is suddenly forced forwards and backwards from a motor vehicle collision.  The injury is controversial because there are no broken bones to validate the rapid extension and flexion of the ligaments and tendons.  Additionally, patients often present with different symptoms.

Symptoms of whiplash vary widely including:  Neck pain, stiffness, headaches, shoulder pain, dizziness, fatigue, jaw pain, arm pain and weakness, visual disturbances, ringing in the ears, and sometimes back pain.

Please do not hesitate to make an appointment so we can give you the care you deserve.  Additionally, we have provided a video to show the impact of an automobile accident and the impact it has on your body.

Spinal Degeneration

Posted on 2012-03-12 11:23:44

In the United States, significant amounts of spinal degeneration can be detected in over one third of the population by age 30.  There are four phase of spinal degeneration.

  • Phase 1:  Loss of normal spinal curve with disc, joint, muscle & nerve damage.
  • Phase 2:  Increasing decay, disc narrowing and bone deformation.  Aches and pains are more common.
  • Phase 3:  Greater posture imbalance, permanent scar tissue, loss of energy & height occur.  Advanced bone deformation.
  • Phase 4:  Degeneration of the cartilage and bone, bone fusion, & constant pain. Inability to turn, bend and twist.

Please feel free to watch the following video for a complete look at Spinal Degeneration:

The Most Common Question Among Patients With Lower Back Pain: "Doc, Why Do I Hurt?"

Posted on 2012-03-08 09:31:47

First let me say, this is in no way meant to be an Advanced_Chiropractic_holistic_care_for_back_ache.jpgexplanation for all patients experiencing lower back pain.  With that being said; the most common condition seen is referred to as mechanical back pain.  This would include: ligament and joint sprains, muscle strains, degenerative joint disease and spindylolisthesis.  Before I lose your attention with medical terminology, this would be the patient who has "over done it" and can hardly move.

Lower back pain can include tearing or stretching of the ligaments and muscles surrounding the spine due to over extension by way of bending, lifting, or twisting during daily activities.  Sometimes the symptoms appear the next day and can last for months without the proper treatment.  The most common symptoms of lower back pain include sharp pain, concentrated in a specific area, stiffness, and the inability to stand up straight or sit for long periods of time.  Additionally, the pain can radiate down the buttocks or back of the thigh and be mild to severe. With the aid of Applied Kinesiology and Chiropractic Care I have helped thousands of patients recover from these conditions.

Lower back pain is the most common area of the back that hurts because it carries much of the body's weight.   If you are experiencing lower back pain, please come see us at Advanced Chiropractic & Holistic Wellness so we can accurately diagnose you and get you on the road to recovery.

What Do Insurances & Research Think About Chiropractors Treating Back Pain?

Posted on 2012-03-07 09:50:32

The ongoing debate for years has been whetherAdvanced-Chiropractic- treats-back-ache.jpg spinal manipulation benefits back pain and lower back pain.  As early as 1971 Medicare adopted coverage for chiropractic treatment due to the positive results from chiropractors helping million of people - this was a first in chiropractic history.  By the late 1980's most insurances jumped on board extending insurance coverage to include chiropractic care.  Continuing research studies of the overall positive benefits have propelled chiropractic care and treatment to its current accepted status in the health care system.

Here at Advanced Chiropractic and Holistic Wellness Center we accept most insurance plans, please do not wait another day in pain.
